SAUSER, LOOSER CROWNED FNB W2W MTB RACE CHAMPIONS

The third and final stage of the 2014 FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Race got underway at Oak Valley Wine Estate (Elgin-Grabouw) on Sunday, 09 November 2014.  Setting a blistering pace, riders needed to complete a 74km route that included tricky Houwhoek Switchback Single Tracks and the infamous Hamilton Russel climb, before crossing the finish line at Onrus Caravan Park (just outside Hermanus) where eager family members and friends.

SAUSER, LOOSER CLAIM SECOND STAGE VICTORY AT FNB W2W MTB RACE

Christoph Sauser and Konny Looser of Team Meerendal-SONGO-Specialized/Wheeler set the course on fire completing Stage Two of the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Race that started and finished at Oak Valley Wine Estate (Elgin-Grabouw) on Saturday, 09 November 2014 in a lightning fast time of 02 hours 35 minutes 18 seconds. Fondly referred to as the ‘Play Day’, Stage Two consisted of a 67km route that featured the best.

SAUSER AND LOOSER CLAIM STAGE ONE VICTORY AT FNB WINES2WHALES MTB RACE

The best of the best gathered at Lourensford Wine Estate (Somerset West) on Friday, 07 November 2014 to take on the much anticipated FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Race.  Stage One saw riders having to complete a 72km route that included having to trek over the historic Gantouw Pass, the only piece of trail to feature a compulsory portage, before crossing the finish line at Oak Valley Wine Estate.

TEXTBOOK MTB CONDITIONS AT STAGE THREE OF FNB W2W MTB RIDE

Oak Valley Wine Estate (Elgin-Grabouw) was a hub of excitement on Wednesday, 05 November 2014 when eager mountain bikers toed the line one last time to take on the third and final stage of the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Ride that finished at Onrus Caravan Park (just outside Hermanus). According to FNB W2W MTB Director, Johan Kriegler, the two most challenging sections on the Stage Three route are.

MUDDY DAY OUT ON ROUTE AT STAGE TWO OF FNB W2W MTB RIDE

The second stage of the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Ride kicked off at the picturesque Oak Valley Wine Estate (Elgin-Grabouw) on Tuesday, 04 November 2014. Riders had a lot to be thankful for with the rain ceasing minutes before the first batch of riders lined up in the start chutes. Fondly referred to as the ‘Play Day’, Stage Two saw riders experiencing the best bridges and structures built.

COOL START TO FNB WINES2WHALES MTB RIDE

It was a cool start to the 2014 FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Ride at Lourensford Wine Estate (Somerset West) on Monday, 03 November 2014.  With the promise of rain looming, over 1200 eager mountain bikers toed the line to take on the 72km route that included having to trek over the historic Gantouw Pass, the only piece of trail to feature a compulsory portage, before crossing the finish.

ONRUS WELCOMES HOME FNB W2W ADVENTURE RIDERS

Sunday, 02 November 2014 saw FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Adventure riders bid farewell to Oak Valley Wine Estate (Elgin-Grabouw), their home for the past two days as they journeyed towards the finish line at Onrus Caravan Park (just outside Hermanus) where family and hopefully a few whales waited in anticipation to welcome them home. Stage Three consisted of a 73km route that, once completed, took the total number.
